The FEMP advocates economic initiatives from the cities to create jobs,


The cities should be useful to create jobs and meet the needs of its inhabitants, not only to market and build on the sustainable human development, coinciding with the UN approach based on productivity, equity and sustainability . In this way, the Secretary General has spoken of the FEMP, Isaura Leal, at the opening of the Seminar on active employment policies that takes place in Madrid, organized by the ILO.



The key, according to the representative of the FEMP is that economic development is made "by and with people, not only for them, and therefore advocated the need to implement," from the public, "political active employment as a response to the crisis. " In this regard, said that all levels of government, especially local governments, have the same responsibility and the same right and obligation to participate in decision-making.
 
The seminar "The role of active employment policies as response to the crisis. Comparative Experiences ", organized by the International Labour Organization (ILO), the FEMP and the Ministry of Labour and Immigration, brings together experts and representatives of different government to find ways to ensure an exit from the economic crisis accompanied by employment growth.
 
The Mayor of L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, Nuria Marín i Martínez, and the Mayor of Puente Genil and Chairman of the Committee on Economic Development of the FEMP, Manuel Baena, participated in the Panel Discussion on active employment policies on young people .
 
According to ILO, the active labor market policies should play a complementary role in responding to the crisis and, consequently, we must make more concerted efforts to prevent long-term unemployment and helping people find work.
 
In this scenario, local governments "are more necessary than ever", according to the FEMP, because backbone throughout the country and ensure social cohesion and they know better than anyone the problems of people and can arrive earlier to provide solutions . The Secretary General of the Federation said that the municipalities can manage local development agencies, with which to enhance the industrial and business development, business parks, sustainable design or plan the logistics and communications business areas to take advantage of positive synergies.

Active employment policies
