The Government approves the new e-Civil Registration


The Council of Ministers approved, for submission to the Courts, the Draft Law on Civil Registry, which will replace physical books by a common electronic database. A significant aspect of the new record is that the City acted not only as receivers and transmitters of applications, but also as actors in the management of cases and civil marriages.



The new registry settings will allow people usually do not have to go to their offices, since the vast majority of transactions are made directly by the government, such as electronic submission of information required for registration by hospitals (births, deaths ...), the municipalities (for marriage), the courts or notaries. Moreover, the certificates may be requested and received by Internet.
 
The new register is configured as a single record with a unique personal profile, accompanied by civil history of each person from birth. Since the entry into force of the new Act, each registration of birth shall be accompanied by a personal code of Citizenship (CPC), corresponding to an alphanumeric string, that will help all procedures required the user perform with the Civil Registry.
 
Also with the new law will be issued family book, to be replaced by registration certificates. These may be obtained in person or online. In any case, the government and public officials will have access to registers and certifications need not ask the citizens, which will result in a reduction of administrative burdens and become something special need to go personally to the Registry.
 
The Cabinet also approved a draft Organic Law to complement the Civil Registration Act, by amending the Organic Law of Judicial Power to adapt the regulation of the powers of the courts and tribunals in relation to the Civil Registry the new rules.
