The FEMP and the COE agreed to promote the values of sport and Olympism in the municipalities


The Spanish Olympic Committee (COE) and the FEMP act jointly to promote the values of sport and Olympism in Spanish municipalities, in addition to the local carry the sporting activities that facilitate social integration, education and culture health.


The agreement signed by both entities, signed by the President of the FEMP, Pedro Castro, and President of the COE, Alejandro Blanco Bravo, provides, among other initiatives, creating the distinctive "Olympic City" for those local entities that are meant for support and promote the values of sport and Olympism.
 
Other planned actions include developing a campaign of Olympism and Sport, under the name of values and symbols, the organization of Conferences on Sport and Environment and on Olympism and develop sport activities aimed at boys / girls and families, in the multidisciplinary and participatory.
 
Moreover, the agreement includes a program to incorporate into the jobs of local corporations in specific places for the sports sector, where they could select candidates whose profile matches elite athletes.
 
The President of the FEMP, Pedro Castro, said Local Government should work towards strengthening the sport as a "service of public interest", whose principle will be stronger own "sports culture" based on something as important as is the work of education and training of the population.
 
It said one of the values to stand out from those who make up this "sport culture" are those of the Olympic spirit, "the best antidote against intolerance, ignorance and misunderstandings between peoples."
 
Pedro Castro added that the sport must be understood as a cross, by which it may affect other social areas such as environmental protection, civic integration, health, good nutrition, education and human rights. In short, "is the best tool for educating in values and to achieve a more just and fraternal society.
