Extended the deadline until January 25 for the registration of immigrants with voting rights


The BOE issued today, January 14, the Order of the Ministry of Economy and Finance which is extended by 10 days the period for immigrants to register on the electoral roll and can exercise their right to vote in the upcoming municipal elections. Thus, when the deadline expired on Saturday January 15 is extended until the 25th of this month.



In accordance with this Order, the Councils shall send the applications to the Provincial Delegation of the Electoral Census Office for the province as the processed, before the January 31, 2011.
 
A total of 1,468,663 foreigners are entitled to vote next May, according to data from INE. Of these, more than one million one hundred thousand are citizens of the EU and other 350,287 come from Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Colombia, Paraguay, Chile, New Zealand and Norway, countries that have signed reciprocal agreements with Spain in order to exercise this right .
 
Cape Verde also
 
In all, there are the citizens of Cape Verde, after publication in the Official Gazette, dated January 13, the reciprocal agreement that allows the vote of Spanish and Cape Verde in their country of residence.
