Maria Moliner Award for Reading Promotion


The Aug. 6 is the deadline for municipalities less than 50,000 people present their projects to encourage reading in the context of the campaign Award Maria Moliner, summoning the Ministry of Culture, the FEMP and Coca Cola Foundation Juan Manuel Sainz de Vicuna.



The awards, which come calling since 1998, is designed to recognize the initiatives developed by local councils in their face libraries to promote reading among all social groups, especially children and youth.
In the 2010 edition will be awarded a total of 300 libraries that receive lots of 200 children's books, selected from the developments of each year. In addition, awards provide 12,000 euros in cash for best project in each of the three categories set according to each section of the population-best project in municipalities with fewer than 5,000 inhabitants, best project in municipalities with between 5,001 and 20,000 inhabitants and better project to municipalities with between 20,001 and 50,000 inhabitants.
Identifying the best projects, assessing the efficiency in the management of library resources, the efforts made by it in terms of its available resources, library extension projects, collaboration with schools and other entities with different cultural agents of the municipalities, projects that promote intercultural harmony and technological development.
