The SCB is committed to meeting the segment unite under a common brand


The Spain Convention Bureau (SCB), which holds its annual meeting in the city of Malaga, will propose the creation of the brand-Spain Spain Convention Bureau MICE, integrating all the representatives of the segment of conferences, meetings, congresses and incentives in the country . To do this, used as a basis the contents and conclusions of the second edition of the MICE Forum, held in the grounds of the city of Málaga congress more than 200 professionals from different fields working in this tourism segment.



SCB Assembly, chaired by the Mayor of Malaga, Francisco de la Torre, also consider setting up a network of partners, bringing together leading representatives of the sector in Spain (conference offices, palaces, fairs, hotels, agencies travel, international organizations or service companies). This will create specific working groups that integrate each of the representatives to study the actions that may be of interest to these employees.

After the small drop reported in 2009, the tourism sector conferences and meetings has not stopped growing in Spain. Only last year were held in our country a total of 21,382 meetings, which gathered nearly 3.5 million participants. This follows the progress of the study results prepared by the FEMP, corresponding to the activity of business tourism sector in Spain.

MICE Forum was inaugurated by the Mayor of Malaga, Francisco de la Torre, accompanied by Deputy Director General for Planning and Coordination of the OTS Turespaña, Alvaro Blanco, the Councillor for Economy and Tourism of the City of Malaga, Spain Carolina, and the Director General of the Department of Tourism and Convention Bureau Málaga, Francisco Quereda.

In its second year, the forum focused its discussions on the challenge of promoting Spain as a destination suitable for this type of tourism, considering that this segment is the most helpful to the seasonality and diversity of tourism, contributing directly to improve competitiveness and commitment to quality tourism to generate employment and wealth in cities.

The Spain Convention Bureau (SCB) is an association of cities and provinces assigned to the FEMP. Currently comprises 53 destinations that have human and technical resources for the organization of meetings and events with a minimum capacity of 500 people.
