Approved the Regulations of the Immigration Act


The Council of Ministers has approved by a Royal Decree, the Regulation of the Organic Law of 11 January 2000 on the rights and freedoms of foreigners in Spain and their social integration, after the amendments to the Aliens Act. The new regulation aims to consolidate the model of immigration, organized and connected to the labor market and facilitates collaboration between administrations.



The essay discusses the management mechanisms envisaged in the reform of the Organic Law of 2000 that prompted the government itself and the Parliament recently approved more than a year, and makes effective means to strengthen social cohesion, integration and equal rights and duties. The new regulation responds to the challenges of the migration cycle and completes the transposition of Community legislation on immigration.
The standard ensures greater rigor, objectivity and transparency in administrative procedures in foreigners. In addition, objective criteria for the procedures to be performed by foreign citizens, streamlines procedures and introduce new technologies in the procedures.
It also establishes mechanisms to promote and ensure the mobility and voluntary return of foreigners to their countries of origin. Similarly, for individuals seeking these programs determines a more agile and more collateral.
On the other hand, calls for increased stability Spanish contracts between employers and foreign workers. Thus, the rule prevents the employer has not fulfilled commitments to hire another foreign worker in the next three years.
The new regulation has come to the Council of Ministers after the hearing process and public information and hearing the State Council. The text has been agreed in the dialogue table and has undergone an extensive process of dialogue, both with government and with civil society, including the FEMP.
Other agreements
The Cabinet has also approved the criteria for distribution between regions and the cities of Ceuta and Melilla five million euros for the development of programs and support services to victims of gender violence as well as a report on the implementation of the Law Unit.
