CEMR prepares its next General Assembly in Cadiz


Secretaries General and Directors of the National Sections which, like the FEMP, form the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR), prepared in Cadiz XXV General Assembly that the organization held in the Andalusian city in September 2012. Cadiz will host this Assembly in the framework of the commemoration of the bicentennial of the first Spanish Constitution.



 
The working days of the CEOs, 27 and 28 October, were inaugurated by the Mayor of Cadiz, Teofila Martinez, the President of CEMR, Mayor of Stuttgart (Germany), Wolfgang Schuster, and the Secretary General of the FEMP, Angel Fernández Díaz. The main point of the work program were the acts of the next General Assembly (Estates) of the CEMR, to be held in the Andalusian city on 26, 27 and September 28, 2012 and for which they are expected to attend more of 1,200 mayors across Europe. The choice of Cadiz to host this event responds to the agreement between the RSMC, FEMP and the City, so, the States General of the CEMR XXV coincide with the commemoration of the bicentennial of the enactment of the first in Cadiz Spanish Constitution.


Under the motto, 3D-Innovating Decentralization, Development and Democracy, the appointment of 2012 aims to be a dynamic and participatory Congress, which will focus on topics such as the Government Network in building a sustainable Europe, the Priorities Strategy Framework 2020 and the decentralization process within the European continent.


At the preparatory meeting, the General Secretaries discussed the economic and financial situation in Europe (counted with the Bank's interventions Dexia Credit Local and European Commission) on the strategic document under the CEMR reflection process the future of the organization and on the Work Programme for 2012 this. Finally, we address the preparation of the next Steering Committee to be held in Brussels on 12 and 13 December and will house the last of the events commemorating the 60th anniversary of the CEMR.
