The chairman of the Committee on Cooperation in the Senate appear FEMP


The Chairman of the Committee for Development Cooperation of the FEMP and Mayor of Collado Villalba, José Pablo González Durán, in his appearance in the Senate on December 21 announced that the Official Development Assistance (ODA) from Spanish Local Governments amounted to 147,182,837 euros and was used for the most part, infrastructure projects and social services carried out in Latin America and Africa.





This contribution is 3.11% of net Spanish ODA according to the latest report of the Local Public Cooperation by the FEMP and referred to the commitments of 2009.
 
Gonalez Durán appeared before the Committee on International Cooperation for the Development of the Upper House, at the request of the parliamentary group ENTESA Progrés Catalan, to inform policies and cooperation projects developed by the FEMP and to move the view of governments Local on how to achieve the target of 0.7% of GNI by 2015 the policies of international cooperation for development.
 
Collado Villalba Mayor reported on the aims of the Cooperation Committee of the FEMP, as a forum for debate and representation of solidarity promoted by local governments. Chief among these goals is to promote coordination and complementarity of aid to encourage quantitative and qualitative improvement, with emphasis on Harmonization and the appropriation by the Paris Declaration.
 
He also highlighted as a priority of the Federation, support the institutional strengthening of local governments in the South and their representative associations, with emphasis on the defense of local autonomy and good governance and supporting processes decentralization.
 
Regarding the 0.7% stated that this is a goal and is assumed by many Spanish and local governments from the FEMP will continue to drive initiatives that promote this commitment.
